  1. Pupils without internet 'disadvantaged in education'

More than half of teachers believe that children with no internet access are seriously disadvantaged in their education, a survey has suggested.
A fifth of the 585 teachers surveyed for the Times Educational Supplement and charity E-Learning Foundation said internet access was essential for pupil's homework.
The charity also warned it was seeing support from the government cut.
It is estimated two million children live in homes without internet access.
An increasing amount of schoolwork, especially at secondary school, is dependent on computer use.

    'Digital divide'
Some 55% of those surveyed said children who had no internet at home were at a serious disadvantage.
Chief executive of the E-Learning Foundation, Valerie Thompson, said the digital divide was having a damaging impact on children's prospects.
"Young people without access to the internet can struggle to complete their homework and coursework, and fall behind.
"Teachers are increasingly assuming that children have internet access, making it harder, and this can exacerbate the impact of the divide.
"If we are serious about improving the life chances of the most disadvantaged, we have to tackle the digital divide, otherwise the poorest children will be left even further behind."
The charity helps ensure children have access to learning technologies

  2. I agree whit the news that not having internet access at home it’s a really common thing in some low level classes and it makes huge disadvantages between children.

In the early days internet has became a common tool in our lives and in our institutions. Nowadays in almost every school have internet access, but the problem comes when students have to do some kind of homework where they have to find information. It’s easier to find it in internet, but not everybody have internet at home. That’s a big problem, because those children that do not have internet access at home can not do the homework as good as the ones who have internet access at home.

I'm agree in part because nowadays internet is very important for all people in order to work or study,so if students have internet can do better some homeworks, but in the other hand, I think that in many cases is perjudical for them because they are able to see thing that they don't have to see, and somethimes we can't do nothing to prohibit it, and they also became lazy with the orthography.

  4. Internet has many advantages and some disadvantages.
At first the Internet advantages overcome to the disadvantages, especially in education.
It´s verified that children who has Internet at home and at schools learn more and better while enjoying.
What´s more they are more interested in their teaching and also they can work and collaborate in team.
This way, students with access to internet are more motivated; that´s way all the governments around the world are suggesting the internet access at all the schools.
Finally, if we want an efficient education, we have to give the same opportunities to all our children.

  5. In my opìnion, children with not internet aren't in disavantaged. Before the internet, all the people could do their works as well as now with it. It's true that internet gives a lot of information anda facilities but some people can't afford it, so they must have the same conditions as the others. I think that we depend so much on the internet, and teachers must realise that not all the children have it at home. I say that because, teachers are always tell students to look for something in the internet and they don't care if they have it or not.

  6. I agree with Aitana. It is true that our days the most common is to use the computer to do the homework, and that all children who do not have one at home or are unable to have internet connection will be further delayed with respect to rest of the class. On the one hand, I agree with the initiative of sending tasks that requires the use of internet as it encourages the student experiential learning, but then I think it discriminates against a serious form to other students for economic reasons do not benefit from the internet.

  7. I’m disagree with the news. It’s true that Internet gives a lot of facilities in order to search information easily and quickly, but this characteristic isn’t very important.
Children who haven’t got internet at home can go to the public libraries or to a friend’s or familiar’s house.
But, on the other hand, children could be in disadvantage in the sense that all the people in her/his class have internet at home and he/she not, and this could be a reason of discrimination.
In short, I think that exist a lot of possibilities to look for information if you don’t have your own computer, equal of cheap.

  8. I'm Agree in part with this news. It's true That it's an internet Have important thing and it's better for Children to find information for homework Their Because it's faster. But not everybody in the Internet Have Their houses Because They Have Possibility of dont have it.
Moreover, Children Who Do not Have Internet Will Be discriminate by Children Who Have Internet in Their houses, And That Is A Disadvantage.
So I think That Do not Have Children Who Have Many Possibilities of Internet get the acces to this very useful tool.

In part I agree with the news because the Internet today is very important to do work and study. But these tasks also can be done in libraries or places with computers.
Only it's more comfortable and easy to do at home.

  10. If I just now did not have access to Internet to consult information for a work I might realize nonetheless this work since we have other manners of obtaining information as encyclopedias, or books of reading. Also I have to admit that it would find it hard to myself to adapt me very much since the Internet is much more rapid. Though often it is more suitable to use books since they can have more ancient and better written information.
I do not believe that a child without Internet in house has any more problems in the education or accomplishment of works that a child that if it has Internet.

I’m not totally agree with this news because in one hand Internet has become an indispensable tool to find information quickly and easily but in the other hand most of this information can be found in books or going to the library. However, I believe governments should invest in giving each school computers available to those children who did not have at home so they could continue with their homework and schoolwork without any disadvantage or problem.

  13. To be honest with you Im not very sure about this new... I think ( as most of you) that internet and the new technologies are good and make the work easier, but only for the people who is good at it.. before this year I haven't used internet as much as now and yes, sometimes I feel that im in disadvantage with some of you because in most of the activities we have to do I am lost... for that reason I think its a good idea to teach the children how to use this tools since the beggining and for the ones who have not internet at home try to find some others solutions but not deprive them of those tools.

  14. I am agree with luna because children that know how to use internet and other tecnologies have more advantages in class that other children that do not know how to use them. If teachers teach only things that required internet children who do not know how to use it will be in disadvantage with the other children that now how to use it. We need theacher that use two forms of evaluate with and without internet works.
